A Quick Recap: Cross Country

The boys and girls cross country teams had one the most successful seasons in school history. The girls team, led by senior Anna Hurst, were the winners of the Rebellion Cross Country Classic and placed 2nd at the regional meet. At the state meet, 8th grader Reese Ragland placed 20th as an individual. The boys team, led by seniors Abshir Abdi, Umar Nasim, and Ethan Henes, placed 3rd at the Rebellion Cross Country Classic and placed 2nd at the regional meet as well. At the state meet, both Abshir and Ethan placed among the top ten individual performers, with Abshir at 6th and Ethan in 9th place. This was the first time in school history that two runners had finished in the top ten individually. The boys team placed 5th overall, tying for the second best placement for the boys team at the state meet in school history, behind the 2011 boys team that was state runner up. Reese Ragland, Abshir Abdi, and Ethan Henes also made the All “A” State team. Even though the season has come to an end, some of the boys are considering racing in the Nike Cross Nationals Southeast Regional Meet in North Carolina.
