Our mission

To provide an interactive and multifaceted resource for members of the Collegiate (and "Louisville) community to broaden their global awareness and become a “Global Citizen

what does Global citizenship mean to you?

"To me, Global Citizenship means fully accepting the rapid rate of global interconnectedness and subsequently working to develop cultural competence, learning perspective taking, staying up to date on world events and doing work that, in one way or another, progresses the average well being of humans everywhere. Global Citizenship means valuing humans equally and actively participating in the journey to improve everyone's lives, not just those in your immediate community or country."

- Evan O'Leary, Spanish Teacher at Collegiate

"Global Citizenship represents the idea of focusing, not just on the world, but how everyone's culture and background shape the society we live in today."

- Ayanda Sutu, Junior at Collegiate

"A deepening capacity to take the persepctive of other human beings who live in other parts of the world.

An increased investment in making a difference in local and global communities."

- Steven Sowell, English Teacher at Colleigate

"When we consider Global Citizenship, we uncover interconnected relationships that span beyond the nucleus of our own existence. We become aware of other and the plights of all individuals that make up this vast world. Not only do we have a greater awareness of others; rather, we strive to be open-minded in our actions, as we understand that practices and products of other cultures enhance our perspectives."

-Tracy Rucker, French Teacher at Collegiate

"For me, Global Citizenship means open-mindedness and awareness of the world. I think that a global citizen is a person who respects values and cultures of others and is willing to open up to something new in the world."

-Nastya Kovylina, Senior at Collegiate

"Being a Global Citizen allows me to experience and appreciate different people and their ways of life."
