The Varsity Golf team played in its last tournament in regionals at Seneca Golf Course this past Tuesday, September 27th. With an all senior starting lineup, it was everyone’s last round as a Titan. The team, captained by Parker Duff, George Merhoff, and Barrett Myers, is very emotional about the end of the road. On Tuesday, after firing a 77 and missing the cut to go to the state tournament as an individual by only 3 shots, Barrett Myers said with tears swelling in his eyes, “This is the greatest golf team in school history. We have nothing to be ashamed of. We played for each other, and the brotherhood we have developed will last a lifetime. Even when we are grandparents, we will still play this great game together and will always remember the start of the dynasty.” Statistically, the 2016 Titan golf team was the most talented group in Collegiate history. Earlier this month, the team went to the All “A” Classic State Championship for the second straight year after beating KCD and Whitefield in the All “A” Regional Qualifier. This season was a successful one with all of the high-level tournaments, matches won, and putts made, but now it is time for the titan golf program to build on the legacy that was left behind.
